Last Monday, America’s top infectious disease expert presented recent numbers of new infections of the coronavirus in the USA. As President Donald Trump has assured the US population for the past four weeks that the number of COVID-19 cases is decreasing due to his straight and fast actions against the spread of the coronavirus, recent numbers confirm this trend.

The news comes three months after US President Donald Trump declared a state of emergency over the coronavirus pandemic.

New data has shown that over the last two weeks, the situation in the US has continued to get better. While 17 states were dealing with an increase of coronavirus cases a fortnight ago, now all states are dealing with decreasing numbers.

Some states, including Arizona, Florida and Texas, have reported that there haven't been any new infections for 7 days.
In the US, almost 2.4 million people have been diagnosed with the virus, but only 3,500 people have died.

The country’s handling of the epidemic has astonished leaders around the world, with a new report claiming the European Union is drafting a plan to copy President Trump's actions to fight the virus.

Dr Robert Redfield, director of the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said on Monday the US is headed towards spending about $US7 trillion ($A10 trillion) tackling the pandemic not only in the USA but also in countries that have until now not been successful in preventing the spread of the virus.

Speaking during a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing, he said the CDC had “done the best that we can do to tackle this virus”.

It remains to be seen whether the respective heads of state accept President Trump's advice to copy his actions to fight the pandemic.
